Summit Education Consulting, LLC, was created in February 2007, by Heather Case in response to increasing requests for help and advice related to the college admissions process. Heather acts as the Director of College Admissions Counseling for Summit Education, LLC, and oversees all consulting services.

Heather has worked in the field of human services for over fifteen years and has worked in a public school setting for the past ten. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor as well as a licensed guidance counselor in the state of Indiana. Her education and training in both areas allow her to see each student as a unique individual and to provide direction and support in areas often overlooked in the college admissions process.

At Summit Education Consulting, LLC, we believe that every student possesses distinctive strengths and a unique purpose that should guide the college decision-making process. Therefore, our services are tailored to meet the specific hopes, dreams, and needs of individual students and their families.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of working with a college admissions counselor is the peace of mind for both parents and students that comes from knowing that someone is there every step of the way. Knowing what to do and when to do it can be overwhelming for everyone involved. Having a consultant to help you through the process has never been more critical than now as college costs rise and admissions rates continue to decline.

Support services are offered for students in grades 6 - 12 and include, among others: career and personality inventories and evaluations, college matching assistance, detailed review of transcripts and test scores, NCAA Clearinghouse eligibility review, college application timeline assistance, scholarship search assistance, personal coaching for the student regarding the college and scholarship application process, review and clarification of college applications, personal essay support, assistance with the transition from high school to college, wait-list analysis, and strategic planning to gain admission following a wait-list or denial notification.

Top Five College Planning Strategies:

1. Don't wait until your senior year to start planning. Colleges look for many critical indicators on your schedule, your college admissions résumé, and in your high school experiences. By the 12th grade it is often too late to add many of these experiences or credentials to your profile.
2. Take your college admissions tests early and more than once. Many students test better on one test than the other so it is important to take the SAT, the ACT, and to consider the SAT Subject Tests if you are considering highly selective schools or programs. Having a test score on file in your junior year allows recruiters to begin evaluating your profile.
3. File your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on time every year. The biggest financial aid mistake students make is filing their FAFSA after the state deadline. State deadlines are usually March 1 or 15. All students who receive any type of financial aid must file a FAFSA for each school year they plan to attend classes.
4. Include a college admissions résumé and personal statement with every application, even if they are not required. Any document that can highlight your strengths and accomplishments gives colleges and universities reasons to say, "Yes!" to your application.
5. Don't rule out a school based simply on its price tag. In addition to athletic scholarships, many schools have financial aid that is school-specific and may be given based on merit, extracurricular involvement, community service, and many other factors that are not dependant on household income.
